Girl Youth Advisory Committee Member Program Officers - 10X Digital Economy Program Home Based
WITU, is implementing the 10X program for the next three years (2024–2027), which aims to empower young women (individuals and through MSMEs) to access work opportunities, enhance business efficiency and increase access to markets and finance by leveraging the Digital Economy. WITU under this program, focuses on achieving a key outcome: Equipping 4,800 young women with basic and intermediate digital skills and connecting 3,840 of them to direct work opportunities in the digital economy of whom 5% are Persons Living with Disabilities and 3% Refugee Women.
Geographical Program scope: National and subnational (Kampala, Mbarara, Kyegegwa, Bunyagabu, Ibanda, Lira, Masindi, Kikuube, Isingiro, Kamwenge, Kagadi, Wakiso, Mubende, Masaka, Arua, Nebbi, Adjumani, Busawula, Nakivale, Jinja and Gulu).
Why do we want you?WITU, is inviting young women aged 18-35 years to join the Girl Youth Advisory Committee (GYAC). The GYAC is formed to increase the level of digital engagement of young women aged 18-35 years of age and to provide the GYAC with an opportunity to work directly with WITU staff. The GYAC is composed of middle, high school and University students from underserved communities including for Persons Living with Disabilities and refugee young women, that represent WITU and can give advice concerning issues of young women in Uganda, using their voices to influence and make positive change. It’s important that what WITU does, and says, represents what young women really care about.
What you will be doing
- Express your ideas and work together to help shape the 10X Program including campaigns, fundraising, media and communications.
- Take part in a range of unique experiences which could include meetings, delivering speeches at events, engaging with media, and featuring in WITU’s campaign videos.
- Attending the program co-creation and bi-annual meetings as and when scheduled.
- Ensure to represent concerns, ideas and experiences of the young women in the community aged 18-35 years.
- Age group: Young women aged 18-35 years including living with Disabilities and refugees aged 18-45 years.
- Passion: Should have a genuine interest in young women and the digital economy and willingness to share ideas. .
- Ability to actively listen to others and be mindful of their views. Strong communication and teamwork skills are desirable.
- Interest and commitment: You will be required to regularly attend meetings, participate in discussions, and contribute to decision-making processes, hence requiring a certain level of commitment.
- You must possess role model qualities and act as a role model for your peers' demonstrating qualities of ethical behavior and responsibility.
- Time commitment: You will be required to participate in the bi–annual review meetings of the program implementation period.

- Training to build skills like public speaking, writing, influencing and networking Support from staff with regular check ins.

- Persons living with Disabilities and Refugee young women aged 18-45 are strongly encouraged to apply.

Application Timeline
- December 5, 2024: The application window opens
- December 31, 2024: The application window closes
- Early January: Our team will reach out to finalist applicants who have been selected to move forward to the second round of the review process, which will include virtual interviews.
- January 6, 2025 – January 10, 2025: WITU staff will meet with finalist applicants virtually over Zoom individually so they can tell us more about themselves and their responses to application questions, understand the requirements, and ask questions about the program. The meeting will be 30 minutes.
- January 27, 2025 – January 31, 2025: Applicants will be notified if they are selected for the Girl Youth Advisory Committee.
- February 3, 2025: Official start of this Role.
